Academic Freedom and Tenure: Northwestern State University of Louisiana and Southeastern Louisiana University

This report was published in the 2012 issue of the Bulletin of the AAUP.

The report focuses on Northwestern State University and Southeastern Louisiana University. The AAUP authorized the investigation last fall upon receiving complaints of abuses at the two universities, both part of the University of Louisiana system. At both institutions, administrators discontinued or consolidated academic programs and arbitrarily selected certain tenured professors in the programs for termination of appointment.
