Grow Your Chapter and Get Money Back

As part of the AAUP's Organize Every Campus campaign, advocacy chapters are eligible to receive a portion of members’ dues back when members participate in active organizing efforts. These resources will help chapters develop an organizing culture and build power on campus.

Why
Currently, advocacy (nonunionized) chapters do not receive financial benefits when new members sign up. While some chapters collect local dues on top of national dues to help sustain their locals, most do not. A lack of resources can make it difficult for advocacy chapters to take root and grow

When
The dues-sharing program is piloting in academic years 2024-25 and 2025-26. Dues-sharing for the 2024-25 academic year will be paid to chapters by September 2025. For chapters continuing in the program, payments will be made on a quarterly basis in 2025-26.

What
Advocacy chapters will receive ⅛ of the dues paid by the total number of members on their roster on June 1, 2025. The requirements and expectations for eligibility in the Organize Every Campus dues-sharing program are:

  • Sent at least two members to the Skills to Win training in November 2024 (or send three to the February 2025 training)
  • Send chapter representatives to Organize Every Campus check-ins
  • Set up a bank account and obtain an EIN
  • Grow current chapter membership by twenty new members or 10 percent of your roster (baseline is the start of academic 2024-25), whichever is higher, between August 2024 and June 1, 2025.

To remain in the program in year two, chapters must send a minimum of five additional members through Skills to Win training in 2025-26 and continue to send chapter representatives to OEC monthly check-ins.

Please note that lifetime members will only be counted toward dues-sharing if they joined during the period of this program.
