The AAUP's Center for the Defense of Academic Freedom is hosting a public panel discussion on Friday, September 13, from 4:15–5:30 p.m. The panel will examine the legislative assault on academic freedom taking place in Florida, Texas, and elsewhere; the effect activist donors are having on the integrity of teaching and research; the continued threat anti-Black racism poses to the freedom to learn; and the antidemocratic threats stemming from fundamentalist approaches to free speech on campus.
Panelists include Sumi Cho (African American Policy Forum), Mary Anne Franks (George Washington Law School), Nancy MacLean (Duke University), and Barrett Taylor (University of North Texas), and will be moderated by Afshan Jafar (Connecticut College and president of the Connecticut state conference of the AAUP).
Registration is available here.
