In August, the AAUP welcomed two new staff members to the AAUP’s national office.
Joseph Roy is a senior researcher in the Department of External Relations. Roy will analyze Faculty Compensation Survey data, prepare the Annual Report on the Economic Status of the Profession, and participate in related research projects and in outreach to chapters and the public. He was previously a linguistic data analytics manager and a member of the graduate faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he served as president of the Association of Academic Professionals, a union local representing academic professionals at UIUC.
Monica Owens is a political organizer in the Department of Organizing and Services. Based in Washington, DC, she will travel widely across the country, developing campaigns and coalitions around issues that affect AAUP members and the academic profession. Owens has wide-ranging experience with political campaigns and advocacy for K–12 and higher education. Most recently, she was a regional organizing director for the Florida Democratic Party.
