The AAUP welcomed two new staff members over the summer.
In June, Scott Sederstrom joined the Department of Research and Public Policy as a researcher. Prior to joining the staff, Sederstrom spent more than two decades as a research scientist at NORC (formerly the National Opinion Research Center) at the University of Chicago, where he was involved in several studies of the US doctorate population. At the AAUP, his research focuses on the academic workforce in US higher education.
In August, Elizabeth Sparks joined the Department of Organizing and Services as the Midwest lead organizer. Bringing more than a decade of experience in both external and internal organizing with labor organizations such as the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees International, Sparks works closely with existing AAUP chapters and state conferences and develops new organizing campaigns across the Midwest.
