Assessing Faculty Participation in Governance

The AAUP research department released a new tool to use for the assessment of faculty participation in governance at individual institu­tions and to compare findings with national norms. The tool is based on the questionnaire used in the 2021 AAUP Shared Governance Survey, the first national survey on shared governance in two decades. The assessment tool uses a scale to determine the level of faculty authority in twenty-nine areas of academic decision-making.
