02.24.2014 | University of Cincinnati Contract Clears Last Hurdle

The University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees unanimously approved the  proposed contract.  The faculty had overwhelmingly ratified the contract, with 94 percent approving the deal.The new three-year agreement is the culmination of a year of negotiations between AAUP and the university.

02.20.2014 | Welcome UNH Lecturers!

We have great news to share—there’s a new AAUP union in New Hampshire. Lecturers at the University of New Hampshire voted overwhelmingly in favor of unionization, with 141 lecturers casting ballots in favor of being represented by the UNH Lecturers United AAUP.

02.06.2014 | Push to Eliminate Wage Gap

Along with many contingent faculty members, AAUP president Rudy Fichtenbaum gave testimony this week in support of a Colorado bill that would eliminate compensation gap between so-called “regular faculty” and “instructors” in the state's community colleges.

02.04.2014 | AAUP Opposes Anti-Boycott Legislation

The AAUP released a statement opposing legislation (currently pending in New York and Maryland) which would prevent public funds from being used to support organizations which have voted to boycott higher education institutions in other countries.

01.31.2014 | AAUP Urges ABA to Retain Tenure Standard

The AAUP believes that any move toward eliminating tenure from the accreditation standards, directly or indirectly, would be a grave mistake harmful to American legal education.

01.27.2014 | Anti-Boycott Bill Threatens Academic Freedom

The AAUP has released a statement opposing New York's proposed Assembly Bill A.8392. While the AAUP opposes all academic boycotts, the statement explains that the restrictions threatened by Assembly Bill A.8392 could impose even greater restrictions on academic freedom.
