Update: On Wednesday, March 10, after strong protests from faculty, students, and university administrations, Virginia Governor Robert F. McDonnell issued an "executive directive"  stating that "discrimination against enumerated classes of persons set forth in the Virginia Human Rights Act or discrimination against any class of persons without a rational basis is prohibited."

After faculty protested, the statewide board of trustees of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning dropped from its February agenda a discussion of language that would have changed tenure policy and due process protections in the state university system.

The AAUP chapter at Monmouth University in New Jersey has signed a three year agreement with the university that provides for raises in each year as well as improvements in several areas. The chapter represents full-time faculty in collective bargaining.
