AAUP Contingent Faculty Index 2006

In the AAUP Contingent Faculty Index 2006, the American Association of University Professors provides data to document the increasing predominance of non-tenure-track faculty in America’s colleges and universities. This report draws on figures submitted by institutions to the US Department of Education’s IPEDS database for fall 2005, and makes data on individual campuses easily accessible for the first time.

A Warm Welcome to Our Wright State Colleagues

Non-tenure-track full-time faculty at Wright State today voted overwhelmingly to be represented in collective bargaining by a local AAUP chapter.

Report on Contingent Faculty Participation in Governance Issued

The AAUP has issued the final version of The Inclusion in Governance of Faculty Members Holding Contingent Appointments. The report’s recommendations address the fact that the majority of faculty appointments are now off the tenure track, while faculty governance structures at many institutions have not evolved accordingly.

The full report will be available on the AAUP website at http://www.aaup.org/report/governance-inclusion.
