89th Annual Meeting

June 11-15, 2003

It seems as if everybody is talking about liberal education—about its definition, about its uses and about its social relevancy. Those speaking with the loudest voices, however, have often been outside the academy—particularly legislators and corporate leaders. Often they are the very people who would take the place of faculty in determining the parameters of higher education. It is time now for the faculty who go into the classroom every day to be heard. This year's annual meeting focused on the faculty's response to ultimate questions about what we do as educators.
