Information on Legal Topics

The AAUP staff lawyers monitor legal developments in higher education around the country and have expertise in subjects such as academic freedom, discrimination, affirmative action, and faculty contracts. They lead workshops and presentations on higher education law for a variety of audiences throughout the country. They keep the Association apprised of new and emerging legal issues that may have implications in areas such as labor and employment law, freedom of expression, and intellectual property rights.

Censure Actions by 2008 Annual Meeting

Delegates to the AAUP's Ninety-fourth Annual Meeting voted on June 14 to place University of New Haven on its list of censured administrations. At the same time, they voted to remove Philander Smith College and Southern University at New Orleans from the list. They voted to take no action against the administration of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.
